Youth Hunter Education Course at Kids In Nature
Date: Saturday, August 19
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Location: KIN Headquarters – 2806 Gresham Lake Road, Raleigh, NC 27615
Kids In Nature invites you and your kin to complete the North Carolina Hunter Education Course. We are hosting the class free of charge to all youth and their parents.
This course is a prerequisite to obtaining a North Carolina Hunting License – required for youth 16 and older and any youth wishing to hunt without an adult. It is also a prerequisite to attending any hunting event with Kids In Nature including our upcoming Youth Dove Hunt.
The course will be taught by an officer from the North Carolina Wildlife Commission. NC Wildlife Commission says this about the course:
More than a firearm safety course, instruction includes ethics and responsibility, conservation and wildlife management, wildlife identification, survival and first aid, specialty hunting and tree stand safety.
There are no minimum age requirements, however, classes are taught at a sixth grade level and tests must be completed without assistance. Courses are a minimum of 6 hours, taught by wildlife officers, hunter education specialists and certified volunteer instructors, and certification is accepted in every state and province in North America.
Due to hunter education, hunting accidents have decreased by over 50% during the last twenty years making hunting one of the safest recreational activities.
