KIN Values

1. FAMILY We are all connected; we are all KIN. We have a responsibility to care for those closest to us first. That care will spiral outward into our communities, our extended networks, our country, our world.

2. EDUCATION We believe in continuous learning and constant improvement. We believe there is much to be learned through outdoor play and recreation.

3. RESPECT We respect ourselves, each other, the land, and all living things.

4. CONSERVATION We strive to protect, preserve, sustain, and restore (when possible) North Carolina’s environment, ecosystems, vegetation, and wildlife.

5. INNOVATION & CREATIVITY There are many ways to surf the same wave.

6. ADVENTURE & EXPLORATION It’s not always about where we end up, but the paths we take.

7. HEALTH & SAFETY We strive to create a safe and nurturing environment for all children to grow and learn outdoors. We work to improve health outcomes of children through nutrition and activity.

8. HAVING FUN There are many ways to enjoy the outdoors, if it’s not your jam that’s okay.

9. DOING THE RIGHT THING We aim to do what is best for the children that we serve, for the natural world, and for the communities where we work.

10. LEADERSHIP & GRIT We encourage and provide opportunity for all youth to dig deep and lead.
